We all have stress that we are dealing with on a daily basis. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed and lost as to where to begin to deal with the stress in order to regain a sense of balance and control in our lives. Take a few moments to breathe and center yourself and know that there is always a way….where there is a will, there IS a way!
Here are 9 guidelines to follow to help you manage stress better:
Often when we feel anxious and tense we forget to breathe. Remember to take a few deep breathes when facing any stressful situation, or at any time of the day, to bring serenity and calm back into your life.
Worrying is like praying for what you don’t want! There is no point worrying about something in the future, or clinging onto what happened in the past. You have no power over either. What you do have power over, however, is the present moment – this moment right now. Make choices for your health and happiness in this moment that will reduce your stress levels and bring you back to balance.
Fuel your body with nutrient, energy rich foods. By feeding your body healthy meals, your body will respond in a positive way.
Do exercise that you enjoy. If you are feeling tense then go to a few de-stressing and restorative yoga classes. If you need to let off some steam then try a boxing class. Do what you need in the given moment. Just get your body moving.
Get enough sleep
Sleep is a great stress tonic! Managing 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night helps to clear the mind, rest the body and provides an incredible sense of well-being.
Routine health checks
It is important to know what is happening in your body. Going for regular health checks relieves the stress of ‘not knowing’ as well as reveals anything that might be of a concern, before it actually becomes one.
Talk to someone you trust about what is causing you stress. This may be a friend, family member or even a life coach or therapist. Often by getting things off our chest we already feel better. Perhaps this other person has some insights that can help you see things from a new perspective.
If there is a relationship or person that is the cause for your anxiety, then talk to that person in an open and honest way. Keeping worries bottled up inside just causes more stress on the body. Talking calmly and being honest with your feelings also gives the other person a safe space to share and be honest with you in return.
Follow your passions
By living your passions and following your sunshine, you bring your light into the world. Do work that you love, that feeds your soul and feel how energized you are to do your ‘job’ every day.
Nothing can stop you from conquering levels of stress except yourself…..Practicing these tips, also remember to be gentle with yourself and send yourself plenty of love because the more you value who you are and what you want to achieve, the easier it will be to manage any stress along the way.
